Story of Marion & Damiel is a project conceived, written and arranged between 2015 and 2017.
Back in 2015 I started writing this rock project, a concept album freely inspired by the 1987 Masterpiece by the great German Director Wim Wenders: "Wings of Desire", a film that completely bewitched me the first time I laid eyes on it, and the subsequent 1998 remake 'City of Angels'.
The aim was to reproduce in a melodic-progressive rock style music the poetry and emotions of the characters in the story.
It is important to specify from the very beginning that there is no official involvement and no connection with the Director in this musical project.
The collective of wonderful people and fantastic musicians who has contributed, is known as the SoMaD Project, an acronym that in addition to recalling the title of the album uses a play on words to joke about the madness that drove this challenging project and are:
Giordana Piedimorsi - Voice (Marion)
Riccardo Zurlo - Voice (Damiel)
GF Vigneri - Voice (Nathaniel)
Bob Baruffaldi - Drums
Robert Taccini - Solo Guitars
GF Vigneri - Bass, Guitars, Kbds & FX
The album consists of 18 tracks, three of which are instrumental.
Browsing through the tracks you will find explanatory notes documenting the journey through this project of mine, in particular lyrics and show notes.
I would also like to thank for the friendly participation Nicolò De Maria, for the guitar solo Synth in "Only the Children Knows" and Evan Angello for the two piano tracks "Nathaniel Knows" & "Story of Marion & Damiel"
Finally, the biggest thanks go to Andrea Allocca (The Professor), who recorded the drums at the Sonus Factory in Rome and then added his magic with the Mix and Mastering at the Kate Academy in Rome.
